
I guess this quote by Elliott Erwitt neatly sums up my feelings towards street photography. I love to people watch, always have done and now, I'm taking it one step further by trying to photograph what I see.
It's not for the faint-hearted, pointing your camera at someone and blatantly taking their photograph. Many people wonder what's going on, but the trick is to make eye contact, smile and act the hapless tourist. Sometimes I'll ask if I can take a photo and no-one has objected yet!
The ability to be inconspicuous helps and having a camera which is small and unobtrusive ...just like my Fuji X100S with its gorgeous retro design and silent (yes, completely silent) shutter is important.
